New Beginnings

The best lesson I learned while watching “Dog Whisperer” this year was that when a dog’s focus is changed from one thing to another, he immediately forgets what previously interested or excited him and focuses on what’s now in front of him. In other words, he doesn’t carry “what was” into the present moment.

I know people who can focus on the “here and now” without letting history interfere and I know other people who can’t let go of “what was” long enough to enjoy the “here and now.”

Just as we won’t get a chance to “do over” 2006, neither can we “do over” anything in our past. The best we can do is to move forward, into 2007, into tomorrow, and let the past rest in peace.

Happy New Year!
