My Tax Refund

It seems I have a tax refund coming. Here’s the email the Internal Revenue Service sent to me via one of my lesser used email addresses which I didn’t realize they even knew I had:

From: “Internal Revenue Service”<service@irs.gov>
Subject: Tax Refund
Date: Mon, 29 Oct 2007 11:37:41 -0400

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $109.30. Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 6-9 days in order to process it.

A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons. For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.

The “click here” doesn’t go to “irs.gov,” it goes to “thenextlevelsports.com” while the email itself was sent through a primary host of “dime88.dizinc.com” which, I assume, is a subcontractor to the IRS. So, if I click and give them all of my personal information I can be assured that in a few weeks I’ll get a check for $109.30 in the mail.

NOT!
