I’ve been divorced twice and have been happily married to my third husband since 1995. When I married the first time, I had idealistic views of marriage. I thought marriage could overcome all obstacles. But some things aren’t acceptable regardless of the marriage vows.

After a second divorce, I decided to focus my business on the types of relationship issues that can destroy marriage and committed relationships. I founded FRIENDS and Lovers the Relationships Guide in 1996 and The Midlife Club in 1998. I became About.com’s Divorce Support Guide in 1997 and was the guide for over nine years. I’ve written four books dealing with the topics of male midlife crisis, adultery, and relationships advice. My fifth book is about Sony’s robotic pet, the AIBO.

Not every midlife crisis is going to lead to divorce but many long-term marriages do end because a spouse has trouble dealing with middle age. All divorces won’t be bitter but very few leave those involved unscathed and best friends after the legalities are over.
