Pat Gaudette

While the majority of books that are sent to me to review deal with relationship issues, I also enjoy fiction and non-fiction books on a wide range of topics.

The Last Chance Millionaire

Douglas R. Andrew is the best selling author of books about financial planning. His newest book, The Last Chance Millionaire: It’s Not Too Late To Become Wealthy is written for anyone who wants to become financially independent at retirement. This isn’t a fiction “quick read” book; it’s full of good financial strategies explained in simple to understand terms. Read more… »

Encore

Marc Freedman’s book Encore: Finding Work That Matters In The Second Half Of Life, is written for baby boomers who are in search of meaningful career choices at or after retirement age. The very thought of “retirement” can be chilling for anyone who isn’t ready to get out of the workforce. The fact is, many retirement age men and women prefer to keep on working for many different reasons. Read more… »

The Men I Didn’t Marry

The Men I Didn’t Marry is another uproariously funny novel by best selling authors Janice Kaplan and Lynn Schnurnberger. After reading, and thoroughly enjoying, The Botox Diaries, I had to read another book by this talented writing duo. Would I be disappointed or could they hit the mark again? I wasn’t disappointed. The Botox Diaries

One of the most delightful writing teams for snappy, fun, light, women’s fiction has got to be the team of Janice Kaplan and Lynn Schnurnberger. If you’ve read The Botox Diaries or one of their other books, I shouldn’t have to say any more. If you haven’t read any of their recent books, you don’t know what you’ve been missing! Read more… »

I’m Sleeping With Your Husband

The complete title of this small book by Michelle Mitchell is I’m Sleeping With Your Husband: His Wife, His Mistress, and His Two Lives. Most of the book is told in the voice of the mistress. A couple chapters are in “his” voice. Toward the end, his wife’s voice is heard for a few pages. Read more… »

Babyproofing Your Marriage

Having a baby should strengthen a marriage, right? Right? Wrong! Unfortunately, in many marriages, the birth of a child can signal the beginning of the end of the relationship between the parents. Babyproofing Your Marriage, the new book by Stacie Cockrell, Cathy O’Neill, and Julia Stone, is an absolute must read for new parents (particularly mothers) who want to keep the marriage from being thrown out with the baby’s bath water. Younger

Pamela Redmond Satran is the type of author I’d like to be. Her book, Younger, is the type of novel I’d like to write. It’s easy to read, inspiring without being preachy, and the main character is easy to empathize with. I have some of her earlier books on my “must read” list. Read more… »

The Starter Wife

Gigi Levangie Grazer’s book, The Starter Wife, was the basis of a 2007 television series of the same name. I hadn’t heard the term “starter wife” before and decided to add this book to my “must read” list. I almost wish I hadn’t. Read more… »

Queen of Broken Hearts

I have several books I’m currently reading that fit into the “light-and-frothy” category. I thought by the title that Cassandra King’s Queen of Broken Hearts would fit into that category. Once I started reading, I found the story to have more substance than I expected. I really enjoyed this book! Read more… »

Wandering Hearts

I was prepared to not enjoy reading Wandering Hearts, a first novel by Donna J. Grisanti. It’s written during the Depression, the main characters face desperate situations, and, it’s not a light-and-frothy easy read. Adding to that, the book is 644 pages of small type. Then I started reading… Read more… »
